Germany’s travel agents have got their ferry reservations hub back

Berlin, Germany, and Reading, United Kingdom, 15 June 2021 – FerryKnowHow GmbH of Berlin, Germany, has launched its new B2B ferry booking service FerryKnowHow.pro. Founded in 2004, FerryKnowHow is a leading German ferry and wholesale agent for bus group tour operators, highly regarded among ferry operators, and as the GSA in Germany for the Russian-Italian Moby-St. Peter Line. FerryKnowHow research shows a significant gap in the individual ferry booking sector of the German market, leading to the new venture.

Messrs Patrick Brandt and Uwe Giese, the founders and owners of FerryKnowHow, realised it was crucial to offer one of the industry’s fastest ferry booking engines with integrated, instant ticketing. Furthermore, their market research revealed that the most requested service by German travel agents is a single unified point of sale to book every European ferry operator.

A common reseller API enables a single connection to all trading partners together with a commercially transparent interface and fully integrated functionality.

FerryKnowHow found this comprehensive and high performing ferry booking engine at Pharos Data, which tailored their existing IBE to the needs of German travel agency sales. Founded in 1992, Pharos offers a unique industry-neutral independent reservations service enabling mainstream players to succeed in E-Commerce mass ferry distribution.

Ferry OTAs, such as Aferry and Directferries, leading camping and caravan clubs, the camping holiday provider Eurocamp, and the E-Commerce platform of the French supermarket chain Group Casino, Cdiscount use the platform. In addition, ferry companies themselves, such as Brittany Ferries and Eurotunnel, use Pharos’s proven ferry sales hub. Overall, the system connects over 35 ferry operators to 40+ resellers, tour operators, travel organisations and networks.

The Pharos service is key to widespread E-Commerce integration in mainstream travel to improve ferry distribution by partnering B2B players.

The first booking received through this new service this morning was for a couple travelling to Mallorca with their two dogs. They chose to bring their mid-sized SUV to the island and spend the night in a pet-friendly cabin onboard for enhanced travel comfort.
